The 7 Tesla Bioengineering Research Program is the premiere group at the University of Pittsburgh pioneering groundbreaking advancements for the use of 7T MRI. Explore more about our research foci below.
The 7TBRP's overarching research mission is focused on making 7T neuroimaging robust, safe, and comfortable, thus consistently outperforming 1.5/3T in all imaging modalities. Each tile blow represents one spoke in the wheel that drives that mission forward.
Using in-house software and methodologies, we design, simulate, optimize, and implement custom RF coils for 7T MRI.
We develop advanced techniques for diffusion weighted imaging, dynamic imaging of CSF flow, high-resolution echo planar imaging, and more.
Using high-resolution 7T images, we develop techniques for image denoising, segmentation of hippocampal subfields, and more.
Using our custom RF coils and custom brain containers with integrated cutting guides, we acquire high-resolution post mortem MRI which can be aligned with histopathology.
We develop deep learning methods to harmonize MRI data acquired across different field strengths, enabling seamless integration of 3T and 7T images for multi-site studies.
We develop simulation and experimental techniques for ensuring safe MRI scans at 7T.
